Exciting update!
We have recently found the last living member of the American military unit that disrupted some of the death marches from Ravensbrück and its satellite camps in Germany during April of 1945. The arrival of the Americans and their tanks scared off the German guards, ultimately saving the lives of many of the women.
The Ravensbrück survivors we spoke to mentioned time and time again the kindness of the American GIs they encountered. We began searching over a year ago for these soldiers and were thrilled to recently find Arthur Bleiwas, an Orthodox Jewish WWII veteran from New York. Arthur has never forgotten his mission - or his conversation with a Ravensbrück survivor during April 1945. He is willing and able to tell us his story - but we can't do it without your help!
Your donations will cover the cost of the crew (excluding the Producer/Director), the camera and lighting rental, and the travel to his home in New York. Please know how grateful we are for your support.
We are very close to completing the production phase of this film and will start post-production this spring!

Dear Supporters,
I just wanted to send out a quick update on the film! In May, we had a very successful trip to London, where we were able to interview world-renowned subject matter experts Sarah Helm (Ravensbrück: Life and Death in Hitler’s Concentration Camp for Women) and Nikolaus Wachsmann (KL: A History of the Nazi Concentration Camps). Currently, we have been “writing” the film given the testimony that we have collected to date, trying to decide what additional subject matter expert interviews may be necessary, as well as deciding on additional “b roll” footage and/or animation needed to help the women tell their story. I have also continued our community outreach efforts, speaking to various groups about the film – and continuing to raise funds. Our next big fundraising push will be primarily for post-production, which we hope to start in October.
We are so grateful for your help in getting us this far! Without your generous support, we would not have been able to interview many of these women in time – or had gotten the crucial interviews with Sarah Helm and Nikolaus Wachsmann. We absolutely cannot thank you enough for teaming up with us to share this amazing story!
Many, many thanks,
Stacey

To all 115 of our Kickstarter backers and friends who helped spread the word, thank you so much for helping us raise over $17,000! Our initial goal was $15,000 and we are thrilled to have surpassed that. Thanks to your donations, we were able to fund our trip to Europe to film interviews with survivors, and now we are well on our way to paying for our trip to London to interview subject matter experts.
It’s because of you that films like ours get made, and we are so grateful to have connected with so many of you who care deeply about this story and these women. It’s an important topic, and a timely one. This is our last chance to hear directly from Ravensbrück survivors, many of whom are well into their late 90s. They want the world to know their stories: to know that it happened and to keep it from ever happening again.
So from the bottom our hearts, thank you! We are forever grateful.
Please continue to follow along with our journey on our website and on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Help us get to London!

We are beyond thrilled that we exceeded our initial $15,000 goal, which helped fund our trip last week for the final survivor interviews; however, we are now hoping to build on our momentum to raise the money we need to cover two interviews in London on May 1st, which will cost another $8,500. We are interviewing Sarah Helm, author of Ravensbrück: Life and Death in Hitler’s Concentration Camp for Women and Nikolaus Wachsmann, author of KL: A History of the Nazi Concentration Camps. These internationally renowned authors are important to help the audience understand not only the concentration camp system, but Ravensbrück, the largest women’s only camp in the Third Reich.
Our Kickstarter campaign will close this Saturday, April 28th at 11:25 AM EDT. Please help us spread the word about the campaign to others who might be interested in supporting this documentary so we can fund these important interviews. We are so grateful for your support!
